I would like to thank the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity for recognizing my determination throughout the application process, to be deemed worthy of being a part of this brotherhood and to be welcomed to the fold.

I was introduced to the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity by Brod Tyrone Balaguer, through him I found out what it had to offer, and how it could help me. What initially caught my attention was the leadership training I could also participate in once I became a part of the fraternity. I recognized my own need to improve in this area, as I lacked exposure to leadership roles and responsibilities. This made me even more eager to take on the challenge and develop myself further.

Beyond that, what truly convinced me to push through with the application process and join the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity is what it stood for. Learning about its values, principles, and the very doctrine of the fraternity hooked me. It made me realize that within this brotherhood, I would be among individuals who not only share the same ideals, but people who strive not just for personal growth, but for something greater.

I never expected myself to join a fraternity, especially with the common stereotypes surrounding it—that it is dangerous, degrading, or associated with hazing. But those misconceptions were debunked once I was invited by Brod Rusty San Miguel to attend the orientation. From the very beginning, I was treated with respect, and I felt that respect throughout the process. While I did hear some brods remark that the process seemed easier for us and that we were “lucky,” I understood that bridging the gap of equality lies not in the hardships endured but in learning the fraternity’s doctrines, values, and principles with due respect.

I am deeply grateful to the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity for pushing me to strive for growth, to aim higher in life, and to never set limits upon myself. As our Grand Princep said, “We are limitless.” The only boundaries we face are those we impose on ourselves. Where we fall short, the fraternity guides us in becoming stronger individuals.

Beyond that, joining the fraternity is not just a privilege—it is a responsibility. To bear its name is to commit oneself to its success. While challenges will come, I am more than willing to give my all whenever the fraternity needs me. It is, after all, a relationship of both giving and taking.

Contributing to the fraternity’s success is not measured merely by the project proposal I presented during the final rites. What truly matters is showing up. From that very presentation, I realized that what I can offer to the fraternity is something it does not yet have—myself. And I am more than willing to give that, wholeheartedly, to the fraternity.

I am Ralph Daniel A. Advincula, a proud member of the newest batch of our fraternity, Batch ’25 C – Executives. I joined our fraternity because I strongly believe in the value of building lasting connections and being part of a true brotherhood—one that supports, uplifts, and grows together both personally and professionally. These are values I hold close, and I knew this fraternity would provide not only lifelong friendships but also opportunities for learning and meaningful collaboration.

I believe I can contribute to the fraternity’s success by actively engaging in our projects, upholding our core values from our doctrine, and fostering unity among members. I aim to bring fresh perspectives and energy to our initiatives while maintaining the discipline, respect, and commitment that our fraternity stands for. Through teamwork, service, and leadership, I hope to help strengthen our reputation both within the university and in the community.

I am Kyle Kristian Ramos, BS Civil engineering student. I am from Caloocan City and currently a senior here in the university. At first, my close friends, Brod Kimbert (24H) and Brod Hanz (24G) invited me to the orientation. I was hesitant at first because I really don't have any plans in joining any other affiliations but when I attended the orientation I was instantly hooked and intrigued. The brods who were present were really nice and friendly. That is why I decided to join the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity.

One way I can think on how I can make our frat succeed is to use my experience as the past Vice President of my academic org to further help with the events especially with the planning and the execution.

I chose U.P. BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY because it is a brotherhood that values equality above all. Here, no one is higher or lower because everyone is seen as equal. No matter what your status in life is, once you become a Beta Sigman, you are treated as a brother. That’s what makes this fraternity different: the true spirit of “pagkakapantay” and respect that builds a strong and genuine bond among its members.

Another reason I chose U.P. BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY is because it trains its members to become skilled, capable, and responsible leaders. You don’t have to wait for the right time, because even now, we are being taught how to be role models for ourselves, for others, for the fraternity, and for the nation.

I believe I can contrbute to the success of U.P. BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY by living out its principles in everything I do. I will do my best to be a brother who leads through action, someone who shows respect, and dedication. I want to help strengthen the bond within the fraternity by supporting my brods, participating in every activity, and upholding the values that make Beta Sigma stand out.

I am Gabriel V. Merioles ‘25D Atubang. I am a BS Biology student taking an interest in Wildlife and planning to pursue it as my major. I’d like to share that when I decided to study in UP instead of Ateneo de Manila—my uncle, an Upsilonian, was thrilled knowing I would soon be an Iskolar ng Bayan. He immediately contacted his fellows in their Viber chat and doxxed me, with the intent of recruiting me. I was not thrilled. Why would I align myself with the likes of former Dictator Marcos Sr.? or join an organization that has one of its values as seniority?

Upon entering the university, I reconnected with my former schoolmates. Rod Christian Ricafort ‘24c, is a long time friend since high school. He introduced me to the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity. At first, I declined his invite since I disliked fraternities in general. He was relentless in pursuing me to join the fraternity. I had this idea of frats that they were violent, problematic, and composed of delinquents. I also didn’t know what Rod’s intentions were to join a fraternity. He was constantly sharing various activities that the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity was conducting inside the campus, and outside of the campus—giving back to the community. I also saw how over time how much he grew as a person since joining the Fraternity. So, I gave it a shot and asked permission from my girlfriend to attend an orientation. I wasn’t expecting anything from the orientation but then I found it interesting.

A Fraternity that represents all that is good and noble man. Principles rooted in Brotherhood, Integrity, Loyalty, Equality, and Service rarely do you often see fraternities hold Equality as one of its principles. All the brothers are equal regardless of wealth, region, creed, and prejudice. Right then, I decided to start my application process with the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity.

Despite my background, coming from a financially struggling family the Fraternity opened me with welcome arms. Not once did I feel out of place or like a stranger in a foreign land. Along with my two brothers, Chavs and Jet, we successfully became members of the Fraternity on the 31st of October.

The brotherhood sees me an equal. I will offer myself for the Fraternity. I will always carry its name with me. From now on, I will do my best to bring glory to the Fraternity and our brotherhood. I will aim high in all of my endeavors.

I’m still someone looking to do more with this life of mine. I strive to swim against the tides of life—I refuse to have the currents take me away. To which I believe that with what I have now, my intellect, drive, and skills. The Fraternity will further hone me to be the sharpest tool in theshed. As I keep becoming the best version of myself, I owe it to the Fraternity for pushing me to be the best. I will spread its name in all that I do. I will contribute to the fraternity’s glory—recruit more members that share the same values, attend classes with the Betan Standard, give back to the community, be a responsible citizen, and above all work hard to uplift the name of the U.P. Beta Sigma Fraternity.

I am Jethro T. Lagco, BS Civil Engineering student. I am from Sorsogon City and currently a junior here in the university. At first, I don't really plan to join any fraternity because of the image of fraternities as a whole, but out of respect to my close friend, Brod Kimbert (24H), I decided to attend the orientation. I then realized how honorable this brotherhood is. What hooked me is the emphasis of equality within the brotherhood. That's when I decided to join the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity. I will be a commited and responsible member and help grow the fraternity's reputation.
